"Heavily 'Novichok' Contaminated Door Knob" - BBC 1 o'clock News 29.3.2018

As has been pointed out elsewhere, 'Novichok' nerve agent (if it exists!) is 150,000 times more potent than Chlorine gas used in the First World War.

So the question immediately arises how it was possible for there to be such widespread contamination (allegedly) in at least three private and public premises, some distance apart, whilst affecting - let alone killing - no one other than the two principal victims? (Two policemen were apparently affected but by what degree and suffering what symptoms remains a mystery)

We have the conflicting and seemingly contradictory story lines of widespread contamination, with very limited specificity. This neither makes sense or accords with the action of such an incredibly potent nerve agent.

Nor have we heard anything very specific from the results of the biological samples taken from the Skripals, sanctioned by a High Court Judge (Mr Justice Williams)

Indeed it rather confirms Craig Murray's assertion that much less was known about the substance than Mrs May claimed to the House of Commons.

The Judgement by Mr Justice May on March 22, says:

i) CC: Porton Down Chemical and Biological Analyst Blood samples from Sergei Skripal and Yulia Skripal were analysed and the findings indicated exposure to a nerve agent or related compound. The samples tested positive for the presence of a Novichok class nerve agent or closely related agent.

Of course this is very different from knowing it was 'Novichok', let alone administered by agents of the Russian State.

CCTV footage believed to show Sergei Skripal, and his daughter Yulia Skripal in Salisbury.

This fundamental problem is compounded by the fact we are led to believe, on the back of a very dubious video clip - that could of course been subject to manipulation - the Skripals were quite fit and healthy less than half an hour prior to being affected on the bench, as they walked unaided through a nearby shopping centre.

This might be explained if they were contaminated in some way between the two points of time, but if this was what happened, it certainly cannot be reconciled to the widespread prior contamination of the premises referred to.

So both these circumstances tend to mitigate AGAINST a potent nerve agent administered much earlier. It also of course make a nonsense of the highly advertised use of protective clothing and breathing apparatus long after unprotected people had been on scene.

The circumstances and symptoms, such as we are aware of, point far more closely to a delayed poison, with initially narcotic properties, administered orally, I would humbly suggest.

We now hear via the BBC that the door to the Skripal's was heavily contaminated with the nerve agent! Rather than solving the above questions, it adds to them.

What of all the unaffected people who have handled the door since? How can this detail fit with the widespread contamination and absence of ill-effects, given that just a pin prick of the substance would be fatal?

Yulia Skripal 'Improving Rapidly' After Salisbury Poisoning, Hospital Says   (!!!!!)

"Yulia Skripal is “improving rapidly and is no longer in a critical condition” after she was poisoned with a nerve agent, the hospital has said.
"Her father Sergei remains in a critical but stable condition, Salisbury NHS Trust said.
"Dr Christine Blanshard, medical director for Salisbury District Hospital, said: “I’m pleased to be able to report an improvement in the condition of Yulia Skripal.
“She has responded well to treatment but continues to receive expert clinical care 24 hours a day."
On Tuesday, Theresa May told parliament that the Skripals may never recover from what happened.
She told MPs: “Late last week, doctors indicated that their condition is unlikely to change in the near future, and they may never recover fully.
“This shows the utterly barbaric nature of this act, and the dangers that hundreds of innocent citizens in Salisbury could have faced.”

Well I never did!

  1. Kyle Greet Chlorine isn't a nerve agent, and the Salisbury attack was not delivered in gas form. Two key differences.

Novichok agents are usually distributed in powder form (or I believe liquid). Each time substance is transferred to/from surfaces or people, naturally the amount will decline. So the further down the chain you are from the source, the less likely you are to have picked up a lethal dosage.

    We know they exist.

Tim Veater Kyle Greet I was quoting a military poisons expert who I expect knows at least as much about the subject as yourself. In fact I know a little bit too. I realise chlorine gas is not a nerve agent as such. The comparison is one solely of TOXICITY, i.e. the quanity required to kill a person, though even that is not straightforward, hence LD50 etc. Then again if the investigators don't know, it puzzles me how you know it was not delivered in gas - more correctly aerosol - form. In fact at one stage this was put forward as an hypothesis and as far as I know is still not absolutely ruled out. Poison of what ever sort must of necessity be delivered in one physical form or another (solid, liquid, gas) so your second paragraph states the obvious, but it also reveals an intriguing problem with this case. To be detectable in so many locations must mean traces of an incredibly poisonous substance remained yet caused remarkably little injury. If as the current theory suggests, there was heavy dose on the door knob that caused the problem, why not to all the others that must have touched it? Now we hear, fortunately that Yulia is recovering. Well that's some toxic nerve agent isn't it?

As some of us suggested, whether this was Russian Novichok or not, the British Government's case was and is wholly capricious and flawed. It is hard to view the premature and claimed certainty as to the chemical agent and its source, in addition to accusing the actual perpatrator, was anything other than highly suspicious. Having spoken proven lies, the position of the Defence and Foreign Secretaries is untenable. And this applies to the Prime Minister as well. What could be more reprehensible than lying about another country with all the risks that entails? If Parliament had any influence or ethical awareness it would demand they all resign.
