 Mr Blobby at Work ?

Term coined by Ben Rhodes (President Obama's Deputy Security advisor)

"Respect the Blob. Learn from the Blob. Love the Blob." Robert Kagan (Victoria Newland's husband)

22.3.2024: Interesting numerology: The initial 'Hamas Assault', claimed unbelievably by Israel as a 'Surprise Attack', has some interesting embedded numbers, which of course are wholly coincidental. The incursion took place on Monday 7th October, 2023, thus 7.10.2023.
7+10+20+23 = 60. Sixty as a number has had particular significance since ancient Sumarian and Babylonian times, giving rise to the use of twelve (5x12) and sixty as the basis of calender and time (months, hours, minutes and seconds) In England units of dozen and score were adopted and life itself from ancient times was indicated as 'three score years and ten'. The numbers 3 and 10 are important Masonic numbers and 23 is referred to as the 'Enigma Number'. (Some might remember it appeared in the high profile dissapearance and recovery of Nicola Bulley) Sixty is somewhat unique in being divisible by no less than eleven integers - eleven itself being significant to events! (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 15, 20 and 30) If we take just 7+10+23 = 40, we have a number particularly significant to Jews, Muslims and Christians, repeatedly appearing in their respective sacred texts. (I could give numerous examples) Just so happens that the date chosen to facilitate the invasion, used as a pretext to apply the Old Testament injunction of God, via Samuel to King Saul, to slay without mercy the Amalekites, utilizes these numbers. Of course Amalak was the grandson of Esau, who Jacob (later given the name of Israel) deprived of his inheritance by deception. Anything here sound familiar? https://biblehub.com/1_samuel/15-3.htm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/60_(number)

15.3.2024:  How to sit through Question Time without exploding? The Melanie Phillips pro-genocidal rant. Conservative and Labour competing on how difficult it is to get a ceasefire. Sadly where would we be without Stephen Flynn and the SNP but pity his seat wasn't taken by George Galloway who would have given short shrift to the Israeli apologists. At least the audience is now persuaded there ought to be an immediate cease fire. But still the fundamental tropes were not challenged. That Israel is always in the right and Hamas in the wrong; that somehow its action is proportionate and justified; that the cause of the conflict began on the 14th October rather than 75 years of oppression and violence on the part of Israel. Nor does anyone challenge the Israeli portrayal of the 14th incursions which were clearly facilitated, if not planned, by Israel itself, including directly causing of many of the deaths. The Israeli position is utterly false and fraudulent and always has been, painting itself as the victim, whilst routinely flouting the most basic rules of humanity and war; whilst inexplicably, unconscionably the west has pretended it could not influence the situation. A territory has been flattened, and upwards of 30,000 innocents killed, whilst millions have been made homeless and injured. So in this context at least, thank god for Flynn, the SNP, Galloway and the Government of South Africa, whilst only utter contempt is due to parliament as a whole and both Labour and Conservative parties. "This weekend will be the four-year anniversary of “the Blob” entering public discourse with respect to America’s foreign policy community. The term emerged from a New York Times Magazine profile of Ben Rhodes, Barack Obama’s foreign policy amanuensis. According to Rhodes’s account in the story, “the Blob includes Hillary Clinton, Robert Gates and other Iraq-war promoters from both parties who now whine incessantly about the collapse of the American security order in Europe and the Middle East.”"

LONDON — Britain’s civil service appears to be taking out ministers left, right and center. So is this the “blob” fighting back? A growing list of senior ministers has been forced to quit after clashing with government officials, whether directly or indirectly.  Having put the nail in the coffin of Boris Johnson’s premiership and shrugged off the hapless Liz Truss, it was civil servants who ensured the demise of Rishi Sunak’s deputy, Dominic Raab, after a bullying inquiry.

"The Blob" has apparently now entered the political lexicon. It refers to entrenched institutional power, inherently working against populist or elected opinion and as such is fundamentally 'anti-democratic'. Others may take the view that it represents intelligent, rational decision-making, freed of political rhetoric and sectional ideology unrepresentative of true bedrock public opinion. What was once the butt of television comedy in such programmes as 'Yes Minister' and 'In the thick of it', is now being treated more seriously as an important factor in public policy making, especially in the area of military activity and foreign policy. In practice, military intervention in other countries - official and unofficial wars - do not even require formal sanction or approval of representative bodies, let alone the people, and as with the second Gulf War may be prosecuted in the face of widescale public opposition.  'The Blob' suggests an amorphous and gelatinous entity, difficult to identify and enunciate. I believe it is analagous to what is commonly termed 'the Deep State'and is exercised by central and largely anonymous institutions. In Britain the Cabinet Office which employs over 10,000 people, yet has no clearly defined operational functions. This, with the secret intelligence agencies, GCHQ and military implement essentially American foreign policy with the aid of other policy organisations, to a greater or lesser extent funded by government. It undoubtedly engages in all sorts of operations to ensure, with the assisstance of the media, the public 'tows the line'.  Only recently in the case of Gaza, but not yet with Ukraine, has there been evidence of failure. It is why the Prime Minister no less did an impromptu Downing Street speech to condemn democracy in practice, when a Rochdale constituency elected George Galloway with an overwhelming majority. Clearly a major failure of the Blob to ensure the government's support of Israeli genocide was not over-turned. It, as enunciated by the Prime Minister, is clearly terrified its longstanding policy of support for Israel, is no longer supported by the population at large. (TTV)
