"For better, for worse"?

"To see a World in a Grain of Sand. And a Heaven in a Wild Flower. Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand. And Eternity in an hour."  William Blake

From two years ago:

It is fairly clear, things can't continue as they are without fairly disastrous consequences for humans and all living creatures. Political systems have been hijacked by corporate interests that generally represent the few that benefit most, rather than the vast majority. Global resources are seen as there to exploit whatever the environmental cost. Only capital and profit are the drivers and these are short-term goals that give little weight to human suffering or ecological impact. Government is in hock to financiers not to voters even when it pretends to be. The 'military/industrial complex' that Eisenhower warned about more than six decades ago has dominated spending whilst causing immeasurable suffering and damage. This simply cannot continue. Rather than obsessing with CO2, the greater danger of creating synthetic divisions to support aggression needs to be addressed and reversed. There needs to be international agreement on reducing military spending across the board and redirecting it to basic human need. We need to revisit and adapt age-old religious belief systems to the new problems of humans and how they relate to one another and the earth. We do indeed need to be less greedy and selfish and learn to get satisfaction from living simply and well. Capital and the concept of debt, which ruins everything, needs to be reformed. We need to know who actually owns it in order to free ourselves from its power. All this requires a revolution in philosophical thinking and ethical framework that places caring and kindness above everything. By God! The human race and this wonderful life-support system called 'earth', has never been in greater need of it.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy Jr. (November 25, 1960 – July 16, 1999), often referred to as JFK Jr. or John-John in the press, was an American lawyer, journalist, and magazine publisher. He was the only surviving son of U.S. President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, and younger brother of Caroline Kennedy. His father was assassinated just before his third birthday.
