Politicians are full of contradictions arn't they, and all too human and subject to almighty pressures of which we have little concept? I know too little to Bernie Sanders' past or present position to support him over much, though I have to say, of all the American politicians on offer, when I have heard him, particularly on the Israel/Palestinian question, he is the only one who appears to have taken a pragmatic and less one-sided position, which of course may just be flim-flam, I don't know. He is after all a Jew (oh the irony) and blood as we all know, when it comes down to it, is thicker than water. If nothing else, it flags up the incredible situation, that in a land that ostensibly espouses 'freedom from tyranny' and the 'rights of man', no one of a white protestant or even secular background of political influence, can be found to assert Palestinian protection, such is the deeply embedded consequence of the evangelical and Jewish right.
