The Military/Industrial/Intelligence Matrix
We all know the media - specifically but not exclusively the BBC - is there, not to reveal but to pacify and entertain a population, which might otherwise get restless and demand change. Seldom if ever does it carry out deep investigation or challenge whatever is the prevailing - for which read 'government' - view.
It obsesses over prevailing controversies such as 'Brexit', whilst other important events and issues sail past unreported and unmolested. Generally speaking the main news output is domestic, trivial and uncontroversial in character. Serious investigation and discussion has been jettisoned for programmes that provide trivial and amusing distraction for the masses.
Only the little watched 'BBC Four' carries anything like serious, grown-up programming, but even there, this tends to fall into classical historical, geographical or natural history formats.
'Newsnight', 'Daily Politics' and 'This Week' seldom stray beyond the well-worn and safe public policy tracks. World events apart from the personality politics of President Trump are hardly covered, and some such as Israeli policy in Palestine, including mass murder, are positively avoided.
In its duty to inform the British public in what is really going on in the world, it has signally failed. It is also why the only other sources of information that stand a chance of revealing what is going on - the free press and internet - are both under government threat and attack.
One such area it refuses to inquire into or reveal, I suppose for obvious reasons, is the whole area of defence, its industries and its interface with the intelligence agencies 'MI5' (1) and 'MI6' (2) - the former dealing with anti-terrorism and internal security, the latter with espionage and Britain's spy network abroad. That these are related is rather given away in their title, insofar as 'M' stands for 'Military'.
This format is repeated around the world, and virtually all countries, to varying degrees and in varying ways replicate these activities and organisations. America has its FBI (3) CIA and many more (4), France its DGSI (5) , Israel its Shin Bet and Mossad (6) Germany has so many I cannot list them all here (7) , and so it continues for virtually every so called sovereign state listed here: (8)
These 'intelligence' agencies consume a huge amount of resources - i.e. money! This in just the five countries identified amounts to around a £80 billion, the greatest proportion (about 90% by the USA) To this we must add all the other countries of the world AND all the spending on military budgets. For example the USA alone spends $700 billion!
(DGSI - Eur300m. FBI $10 billion. CIA $15 billion of total c. $70 billion. Israel $2.5 billion. MI5/6/GCHQ £2.6 bill + £1.5bill. Germany Eur 850m.)
The total global spend on military spending stands at about $2 trillion! That is $2,000,000,000,000! Whatever it is, it is both staggering and terrifying. Somehow or other it must work out to almost a BILLION dollars for every man woman and child on the earth! At the same time a significant proportion live in conditions of utter poverty and dereliction. What a condemnation of the few individuals who strut the earth, mouthing words of peace and reconciliation? What a condemnation of human nature itself?
What can we conclude from this utter madness other than the human world is drowning in suspicion and the urge to engage in violence directed at one another - or at least one country against another and that all the philosophical and political systems of the world have failed to prevent this appalling situation?
One does not need to be termed a 'conspiracy theorist' to immediately see, this makes for an extraordinary world wide web or matrix, of largely hidden and unaccountable individuals, systems and activities with enormous power to influence events, all working for and against one another in a subterranean network of which the general public have little or no idea.
For all its apparently effective PR that this is all about 'keeping us safe', it is clear that in practice it does the precise opposite and the forces that claim to be doing this are also those that engineer the circumstances that are used to perpetuate the spending and infrastructure. How can terrorist events be considered in any other way? (Note American spending on 'intelligence' has doubled since 9/11, yet still fails apparently to prevent domestic terror incidents)
The whole system is essentially corrupt and corrupting of those that have anything to do with it. Of course no national politician can present such a view and if they did, would not last very long. Fear is an utterly essential ingredient in this dirty business and if it doesn't exist, has to be created. This is essentially what 'terrorism' is ALL about.

"The military/security complex, about which President Eisenhower warned Americans 57 years ago, adroitly uses the Fourth of July to portray America’s conflicts in a positive light in order to protect its power and profit institutionalized in the US government. In stark contrast, by the end of his career General Butler saw it differently. Washington has never fought for “freedom and democracy,” only for power and profit. Butler said that “there are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights.”
ReplyDeleteToday the anti-gun lobby and militarized police have made it very difficult to fight for the defense of our homes, and the War on Terror has destroyed the Bill of Rights. If there could be a second American revolution, maybe we could try again."

"The Dark Alliance": https://theintercept.com/2014/09/25/managing-nightmare-cia-media-destruction-gary-webb/
ReplyDeleteThe "Dark Alliance" enraged black communities, prompted Congressional hearings, and became one of the first major national security stories in history to blow up online. It also sparked an aggressive backlash from the nation’s most powerful media outlets, which devoted considerable resources to discredit author Gary Webb’s reporting. Their efforts succeeded, costing Webb his career. On December 10, 2004, the journalist was found dead in his apartment, having ended his eight-year downfall with two .38-caliber bullets to the head."
