Dear Mr Jeff Sessions, United States Attorney General, March 21, 2018
One of the nice things about being American is freedom of speech. In many ways it’s the Big One. With words you can accomplish just about anything.
Imagine yourself being Dzhokhar (Jahar) Tsarnaev today. There is so much he could do, if he could write to various people. He has loads of friends. Above is a picture of him being a normal lad. He could be a conduit of good things to young people.
At the very least, he is a hero to immigrants in the Boston area. They saw him tolerate a very unfair trial and “take it like a man.” Or maybe “take it like a Chechen,” as I have been advised that folks from Chechnya are particularly staunch.
I have met Jahar’s Aunt Maret in Canada. She is wildly strong and intelligent, and is a Master of Law.
Not that she sleeps well, worrying about Jahar and mourning for Tamerlan whom your FBI murdered in custody. Oh, sorry not your FBI as it was back in 2013.
I see that Mueller – who is he anyway, really – was appointed head of FBI on September 4, 2001, just in the nick of time to preside over a famous event. And he departed Feebsville a half-year after the Marathon bombing.
It’s Greek to me why you put up with this stuff, Attorney General. Don’t you realize you have the power? You have more power than the Secretary of Defense. You have the power of law.
Today I read a diatribe about President Trump not having the power to fire Mueller. Of course he does. Trump is under oath to take care that the laws are faithfully executed. He should have criminals arrested straightaway. Surely Mueller is about as criminal as you can get.
All the media nonsense is driving me crazy. I wrote to you the day after your first grilling in the Senate — June 2017, I think. I used the Contact page of the DoJ website, so I can’t be sure it reached you. I told you I was thrilled by your performance. That is not an exaggeration; I was thrilled.
You seemed to me to have the law completely in hand, and never skipped a beat when the senators questioned you. You were mighty like a rose.
Granted I was in a slightly euphoric state of mind. As you may know, I was a candidate for your old Senate seat. I had landed myself in Alabama, carpet bag and all, on May 14th, to run for what I saw as my last opportunity to be a legislator. (I am 71, same as you.)
The state of AL, and the city of Tuscaloosa, made me think I had died and gone to heaven. So much so that I cannot rule out that there be something in the water there! Or else my joy was because I was so warmly welcomed and felt important. Had been a widow in the doldrums for the 17 preceding years.
Never mind that. We are here to talk about Jahar Tsarnaev, age 24 on Death Row, and your nemesis – at least I pray he is your nemesis, Robert Mueller.
Let me quote the Code of Federal Regulations. Title 28, Chapter VI, Part 600, Section 600.7(b):
“The Special Counsel shall not be subject to the day-to-day supervision of any official of the Department. However, the Attorney General may request that the Special Counsel provide an explanation for any investigative or prosecutorial step, and may after review conclude that the action is so inappropriate or unwarranted under established Departmental practices that it should not be pursued.”
Not that anyone would really need to look that up since it goes without saying. I mean IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING.
Just throw the bum out. I do not see anything standing in the way and indeed it is a disgrace you have not done it sooner.
Let me get back to Jahar for a minute as it makes the situation clearer. We have a judge in Boston (We? Boston? Tuscaloosa? Actually I am in Adelaide, Australia, but electronically connected, you know. I was born in Boston. …). We have a judge in Boston who really outdid himself “giving away the Courthouse.” It was a sight for to see.
Though, come to think of it, his sins were more the sins of the DoJ, what with Carmen Ortiz and some other choice US Attorneys running that horrendous trial. They will be behind bars one day.
Ah, but they won’t have SAMs, as SAMs are not constitutional. Even I would stick up for Carmen Ortiz’s right not to be put under SAMs. A big blot on America’s escutcheon, they.
Hmm. Does America even have an escutcheon anymore? I think so. I haven’t given up. As a daughter of the Republic I have the biggest weapon ever invented, and it can do amazing things. But one has to use it (the parchment, that is) — not just put it in a drawer somewhere.
By the way, my slogan on the campaign trail was “You either have the Constitution or you don’t.”
So, Jeff, why not just use it? I’m guessing you are beset by up-close enemies, while I am here in safer territory. I do not fear for my life, at least not hour-by-hour. If you do, I think you are miscalculating. I say they wouldn’t dare. The Top Dogs live mainly on bluff.
Do you and Trump not know that? The Dogs do realize, even if only subconsciously, that they are basically licked. They have done a fantastic job – I give them credit — but no one can rule 7 billion humans, some of whom are smart-assed.
Consider Hank Kissinger. He be sceert. He be sceert stiff. Hasn’t had a relaxed moment in 40 years or more. Must have been very abused as a child.
Without further ado, you or Mr President can sign a pardon for Jahar. That’ll save a lot of ink in his appeal case (in which I have been accepted as an amicus curia, what’s the world coming to?). Then you could have somebody roll up with a camera whilst you interview the dear Chechen, and he will make your dismissal of Mueller as easy as pie. Yes.
Like I said, it would be easy even without Jahar’s assistance, but every Tom, Dick, and Harry in the media will say it’s illegal.
By contrast, your arranging a super-quick pardon for the current resident of Colorado Supermax will be the essence of legality. It will also bring Bostonians to their (pathetically lost) senses, all in the one go.
Man, this is great stuff.
I’ll just cite the rest of that CFR section, to give you the flavour:
(c) The Special Counsel and staff shall be subject to disciplinary action for misconduct and breach of ethical duties …. [saying nothing of course about prosecution for murder, as that is taken for granted…]
(d) … The Attorney General may remove a Special Counsel for misconduct, dereliction of duty, incapacity, conflict of interest, or for other good cause [Boston Marathon, what did I tell you?] … The Attorney General shall inform the Special Counsel in writing of the specific reason for his or her removal.
Recommended language:
Dear Mr Robert Mueller,
I hereby accept your resignation from the office of Special Counsel.
Your sincerely,
Jefferson Sessions, AG.
He will “get it.” He can read MANE THECEL PHARES.
It’s that simple.
